The 17th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Micheal P. Barrett, addresses Marines assigned to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion at Combat Outpost Kahn Neshin, Helmand province, Afghanistan, Sept. 22, 2011. Sgt. Maj. Barrett along with General James F. Amos, the 35th Commandant of the Marine Corps, traveled to Afghanistan to visit deployed service members throughout Regional Command (Southwest) and speak about recent events.
