U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Carlos A. Ruiz, the 20th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, hosts the 2025 Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Symposium in Washington D.C., and Annapolis, Maryland, July 14-18, 2025. From across the force, over 60 senior enlisted leaders and their spouses gathered to discuss troop welfare, manpower, training and education, leadership, and policy. Throughout the week, the symposium received remarks from a range of senior leaders and speakers including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Defense for Strategy, Mr. Eric J. Geressy, the 39th Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Eric Smith, the 37th Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Christopher J. Mahoney, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy, Mr. Stephen Simmons, the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (PTDO), Mr. Jay W.
