The 19th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, Sgt. Maj. Troy E. Black, observes the initial fitness test of the first gender integrated company at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Ca, Feb. 12, 2021. The Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps conducted the visit to observe the integrated training and to speak to Depot staff. The Depot's primary function is to take quality young men and women from the western two-thirds of the United States and transform them through the foundations of rigorous basic training, our shared legacy, and a commitment to our Core Values, preparing them to win our Nation’s battles in service to the country.
