AS MARINES, WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON OUR ABILITY TO ADAPT TO THE EVER-CHANGING WARFIGHTING ENVIRONMENT. THE MARINE CORPS WARFIGHTING LAB DEMONSTRATE THIS MINDSET DURING EXERCISE APOLLO SHIELD.

MARINES WITH 3RD BATTALION, 7TH MARINE REGIMENT AND THE MARINE CORPS WARFIGHTING LAB DEMONSTRATED THE CAPABILITIES OF EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES AT TWENTYNINE PALMS CALIFORNIA.

AMONG THE EQUIPMENT UTILIZED WAS AN UNMANNED ALL TERRAIN VEHICLE DESIGNED TO ASSIST GROUND UNIT WITH MOVING EQUIPMENT.

THE MARINE CORPS IS INTEGRATING REMOTE OPERATED VEHICLES AND DRONES TO ALLOW OPERATORS TO REMAIN IN A SECURE LOCATION WHILE THE EQUIPMENT DOES THE DANGEROUS WORK.

EXERCISE APOLLO SHIELD IS THE CULMINATING EVENT OF A 1-YEAR CRAWL-WALK-RUN BILATERAL EFFORT TO TEST EQUIPMENT CAPABILITIES AND EVALUATE TACTICS, TECHNIQUES, AND PROCEDURES.

U.S. Marines and Sailors with Marine Rotational Force-Southeast Asia, as a stand-in force, completing their Fiscal Year 2025 deployment and for the first time, completing a full six-month rotation. After compositing in July 2024, MRF-SEA personnel completed exercises and operations in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand, and Singapore, comprised with elements from I Marine Expeditionary Force such as 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit; 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment; 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion; and 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment. MRF-SEA is a rotational unit derived from elements of I MEF executing a U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific operational model that involves training events and exchanges with partner military subject matter experts, promotes security goals with allied and partner nations, and ensures a persistent I MEF stand-in presence west of the international date line. Croix-du-Sud is a 14-day biennial joint/multilateral field training exercise organized and led by the French Armed Forces New Caledonia, focusing on disaster relief, crisis events, and enhancing partnership and interoperability between the United States and the militaries of the Oceania countries. On May 5, 2025, “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band conducted a Drum Major Relief and Appointment ceremony at Marine Barracks Washington, D.C., officiated by Marine Band Director Lieutenant Col. Ryan Nowlin. Master Gunnery Sgt. Duane King was relieved by Master Sgt. Steven Williams, who was appointed the 41st Drum Major of “The President’s Own.” Immediately following the Relief and Appointment, King retired during a ceremony after 30 years of service in the Marine Corps.
